About This Course

AI has become more and more dominant in our lives, both inside and outside of work, but there is still some uncertainty about what it all means.

We will explain what artificial intelligence is, what 'large language models' are, and how you might be able to use them in your work.

Have you ever thought about using AI to help speed up writing a press release or solve a frustrating case of writer's block?

This course will also introduce you to the opportunities - and risks - of this emerging technology.

As AI is a one of the fastest moving technologies of recent years, some of the content may well need updating as time passes, but the general ideas and concepts will remain the same.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Define what artificial intelligence (AI) is and how it has changed over time
  • Define what large language models (LLMs) are and explain how they work
  • Outline areas of your work where AI can improve your productivity and quality of work
  • Explain how to most effectively use LLMs in your role as a communicator
  • Summarise the ethical issues that you may come across when using AI
  • Evaluate how to balance the opportunities and the risks associated with AI
